The Cronulla Rail Line Duplication and Upgrade project involved the upgrade and duplication of 14 kilometers of track.Construction of numerous over bridges, construction of 8 lane stabling facility, upgrade to State Heritage Listed Cronulla Railway Station, vegetation clearing to enable works, installation of drainage structures, installation of bridges and associated road and footpath pavement works, pedestrian management and implementation, and protection and subsequent biodiversity offsets of Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest and River Flat Eucalypt Forest remnants.
Healthy Buildings International provided an Environment Manager and Environmental Coordinator to work within the Alliance team. With a troubled history, the Alliance faced significant hurdles to bring the environmental management and planning on this project into compliance.
Key tasks included identifying environmental and planning risks to the project and developing procedures and processes that could be implemented to close out such issues and bring the project up to the high standards demanded by the client as well as meet the legislated statutory requirements.
